Law of Attraction and Islam – Same thing said in two different ways.
– Fahim Lashkaria –
The law of attraction became a famous theory in 2006 after the release of a documentary by Rhonda Byrne. This documentary is called “The Secret” and later converted into a book. This book became popular across the globe and was translated into 46 languages.
As described in “The Secret” movie that these principles exist since the inception of the world. Moreover, they say that every successful man in history has followed these principles and achieved success.
Every religion has verses or quotes supporting this theory that what you believe, you can achieve. Christianity supports it and Napoleon Hill has mentioned those verses ample times in his books.
Bhagwad Gita also supports the theory of the law of attraction. Here is another article that relates Hinduism with Law of Attraction:
In this article, we will try to dig some conceptual similarities between the Law of attraction and Islam.
I am a Muslim and started studying my religious book in 1999 with its meanings. But it was just knowledge without implementation. All these years, I kept on re-reading the Quran just to find answers to my questions. Let’s see what I found during my research.
5 Conceptual Similarities Between The Law of Attraction and Islam
In 2006, one of my friends shared the “Secret” movie with me. I saw the movie and was amazed. Everything the movie depicted was in already in my Islamic scriptures. As it was not said in layman terms, many people find it difficult to understand.
My journey had already started when God inspired me to read my religious scriptures. But the actual transformation journey started in 2006.
Now I will put forth verses that are from Islamic scriptures and are the rules of the Law of Attraction.
Don’t Lose Hope Nor Be Sad
In Islam, hopelessness is sin. You cannot be a believer if you have hopelessness. The Prophet delivers the message from God, “Have hope and expect good from Me. The way you will expect will get a similar response from me.
The Law of attraction also starts with hope. The hope that we are in control and things can get better. It inspires us that anything a man desires can be achieved.
In the Quran, the word hope has been mentioned many times. Sometimes in the context of forgiveness from the Lord, achieving success, handling setbacks, etc.
If you expect bad or wrong the god, universe or Allah whatever you call will respond in the same way. Thus this hope breeds the wave of positivity.
Be Happy With What You Have
Islam teaches to be grateful. Being happy with what you have. Contentment, fulfillment are keys to abundance. There is a verse in the Quran, “If you are grateful for what you have, God will surely increase the things whatever you are grateful for.”
Aren’t these words similar to the scene in “The Secret Movie” where the author talks about gratitude?
Gratitude is another pillar of the Law of Attraction. It detaches you from the outcome and makes you happy in the present moment. This makes you happy. Happiness is contagious and brings more happiness.
When we are happy, our responses to opportunities are better and this is why we are easily able to achieve what we desire.
You Can Achieve Anything
Similar to other religions, Islam emphasizes on rights of your fellow human beings. Islam says, “You cannot be a Muslim if your fellow brothers aren’t safe by your hands and tongue.”
While I was reading “Success Through PMA”, I came across a statement. It says “You can acquire try riches of life by fulfilling your desires that don’t violate the laws of god or rights of any fellow human beings.”
Other religions also say the same about the rights of others. Even if you achieve something it will not last for long and you will pay for it. The law of karma. Give good you will get good and if you give bad, you will get bad in return.
Creator or Scientific Theory
Those who object the Law of Attraction from a religious perceptive, forget about one thing. A very small portion of western philosophers who talk about personal growth and self-development is religious.
The majority of them talk about the Law of Attraction from a scientific point of view. They believe in the science of cause and effect.
Thus, believers believe in the Creator and non-believer in a higher power. It is all the same. One believes in God who runs the universe. Another group believes in a higher power who controls the universe with some set of laws.
God has created those sets of laws and the universe works on those basic principles. You get and don’t get based on those principles.
For example, the Law of Gravity. You throw something up and it will come down. Gravity by itself is nothing. It is a part of some big system that has been created by God or Universe or Allah whatever you call.
Similarly, the Law of Attraction works based on your feelings. If you are negative, you will attract negative and vise versa.
You Only Can Change Your Life
In the Quran, God says, “We don’t change people’s lives until they don’t desire to change.” Which means you are the only person who can change your state. But if you don’t do, even God will not help you.
You have to show the willingness to change and the universe will conspire and help you to achieve that. In other words, “What your mind can conceive and believe it can achieve.”
This is the same that LOA principles say, “Change your mind and change your life.”
Let me tell you, I have been reading and comparing many LOA books. You can find these things like gratitude, hope, positivity, determination, and willingness to change in both – Islam and as well as the Law of attraction.
Has it ever happened to you that some of your days started good and the whole day goes well? Similarly, if the start of the day was then the whole day seems to get worst. This is what is called the effect of thoughts that is proven by Islam and the Law of Attraction.
Both are the same things, just words are different. Be it Islam or Law of attraction, they are a way of living. It allows you to achieve your dreams without hindering the laws of nature or the rights of other fellow human beings. Eventually making the world a better place for all human beings.
